GJPS SPECIAL EDUCATION LOW INCIDENCE STUDENT-BASED SERVICES
Gahanna-Jefferson staff work to adapt the curriculum, making it accessible to each student’s unique learning style. Low Incidence programs are referred to as such due to their smaller proportion of occurrence in contrast to the general-education population.
Behavioral Support Services
Specialized programming intended to meet the needs of students with unique and challenging behaviors through small-group and individualized social-behavioral skill support. The student will require an individualized behavior plan that focus and shape behaviors that permit progress academically, socially and behaviorally.
Structured Support Services
Specialized programming intended to meet the needs of students with autism or students with characteristics similar to individuals with autism. Visual and physical structures are utilized to support students academically, socially, behaviorally and with expressive, receptive and written communication. Individualized academic support is provided to ensure progress on grade-level core content standards in a small-group setting or within the general-education environment.
Fundamental Support Services
Cross-categorical programming intended to meet the needs of students with cognitive disabilities, severe communication disabilities, specific learning disabilities, multiple-disabilities or autism requiring small-group intervention focusing on academic core and/or extended content standards, as well as a focus on functional daily living skills.
Extended Support Services
Intensive cross-categorical programming intended to meet the needs of students with multiple-disabilities, cognitive disabilities or autism requiring individualized and small group explicit instruction focused on the extended academic standards, vocational skills and functional daily living skills.
